Overlay maker
Turn a short video, like blood splatter, cracked glass or static, into sprite sheets for a MotionFX overlay. Everything happens in your browser: the video never leaves your computer.
1. Pick a video
2. Choose the frames
Clip
3. Download and upload
- Download everything as one .zip (the sheets plus a
.luaufile with the code), or the sheets one at a time below. - Upload them to Roblox, for example with Studio's Asset Manager → Bulk Import. Each one is moderated like any image.
- Copy each image's asset id into the code, in the same order as the files. Use the Image id, not a Decal id: a Decal id leaves the overlay invisible. If you have Decal ids, convert them first.
The code
Keep it light.
Overlays look best short and looping: 1 to 3 seconds at 12 to 30 fps is plenty for splatter, rain or static. Footage that wasn't made to loop jumps when it wraps around; Smooth loop blends the end into the start to hide that. Every sheet costs memory and a download, so keep an eye on the sheet count; see overlay performance. Fewer, smaller frames mean fewer uploads and less memory on phones.
